ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONS COUNCIL GOVERNING BOARD INTERACTS WITH MEMBERS OF PROFESSIONS SPECIFIC COMMITTEES

The Governing Board of the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), met with members of the Professions Specific Committees (PSCs) on Wednesday September 14, 2022, at the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) House in Accra.

Under Section 148 (i &ii) of the Health Professions Bodies Act (Act 857, 2013), the Governing Board of the Allied Health Professions Council is enjoined to establish committees for each of professions under the schedule to advise the Board on matters related to the professions.

The aim of the meeting was to deliberate on issues concerning allied health professions and proffer solutions to these issues.

Opening the meeting, the Board Chairman, Prof Kwame Kyere reiterated the Board’s preparedness to work with the Committees to ensure smooth running of the Council.

The Registrar of the Council, Dr. Samuel Yaw Opoku, reminded members of the Committees of their roles and responsibilities to help develop the allied health professions

He added that the establishment of zonal offices in Tamale, Ho, Sunyani and Kumasi respectively was aimed at bringing its activities closer to its clients. He indicated that the Council would continue to spread its activities to other parts of the country in due course.
